Short Description
The Postgraduate Course in Prosthodontics imparts specialised knowledge and skills exceeding the information acquired during dental training, but using it as a base. Theoretical and practical skills are required. Its curriculum is designed to be close to practice and it will incorporate all the relevant subjects of the various subfields of prosthodontics.
Prosthodontics is becoming more and more important
An increase in life expectancy leads to a larger proportion of aged patients, for whom the adequate care of a chewing apparatus provides an important contribution to their quality of life.
In addition, the number of patients with dysfunction is also constantly increasing. A comprehensive training in diagnostic and therapeutic options is of great necessity from a public health point of view. The interdisciplinary diagnostics and therapy of dysfunctions therefore makes up an important part of the curriculum.
Objective: Independent Case Planning with an Interdisciplinary Outlook
A special focus lies on the interdisciplinary therapy of complicated cases: patients with difficult jaw conditions, after jaw surgery, phobic patients and patients with serious neurological as well as mental problems.
Graduates of the Postgraduate Course in Prosthodontics should possess the knowledge and skills in all the relevant fields such as dental ceramics, telescopic prosthodontics, implant prosthodontics as well as in the diagnostics of dysfunctions that will enable them to execute the planning of complex cases independently and solve complicated prosthodontic cases in an interdisciplinary way.
